With 2012 just a couple of days away, I’ve been searching to find that little piece of paper that Hector and I filled out for our 2011 new year resolutions. It was our first “new year” as a married couple and we aimed our goals pretty steep. Once I found my resolutions, and checked a few more off than I had expected, I realized that I still didn’t accomplish 100%. (I’m fairly certain that the fact that I had to “dig up” my resolutions has something to do with it). Needless to say, my 2012 resolutions will need to be right in front and center so that I can accomplish each one. Of course, I am extremely proud of my dear who definitely fulfilled a higher percentage than I did. However, one thing on both of our lists was lacking. We had both resolved to read the Bible. Well to be exact, we did read our Bible, right up until about March or April…. What we should have put, was read the Bible daily. And so, that is how we will start our 2nd year of marriage: 2012, which also starts on the Lord’s day, coincidentally.
In our generation of short attention spans and over stimulated entertainment, it will be difficult to stop for an hour (ok, I’ll start with 30 minutes). I earnestly want to seek the Lord because I know that is the best for my life. Not only do I know this because of my life’s experience, but I know this because I trust His word. My beautiful Savior preserved my life and expounded on my future so unbelievably that words can not describe. I’m overwhelmed at His grace throughout my life. I don’t know why He is so good, but I won’t question it!!
I never want to take Him for granted, and yet, I’m so hyper that I have to force my self to sit still for a while and just listen. I don’t suppose I am the first to feel or think this, since even the Psalmist had to tell himself.

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10
Lastly, I won’t be distracted by technology, but rather use it to the advantage of my new resolution: I’ve found one (and I’m certain there are several) great app for my phone and computer that lets me choose Bible reading plans. (I’m not sure yet if it will send me a reminder, but that would be neat)! Nevertheless, I won’t depend on it, but I will use it. It’s free, so there is no excuse not to try it, my friends: You Version. I’ve even made the link go directly to the different Bible reading plans they offer. Since over here in North Carolina, our church is doing a 21 day fast, I’ve chosen to start January 1st with the 21 Day Fast Reading Plan. Since I’m very ambitious as I write this, I’ll also be reading the whole Bible this coming year. This plan, I’ve chosen says I can do it 15 minutes a day. I imagine, I’ll end up spending more time than that just enjoying the Scripture. Like any other good habit I attempt, it’s always the first step that is the hardest. Once I get going, I’m full speed.
Windsor Park: we miss you and can’t wait to be with you, our family again. Don’t worry about us though! God has provided a wonderful Christian family for us here in North Carolina. We’re overwhelmed with the beautiful fact that there are lovers of God in so many places. Don’t be discouraged by the things of this world. There are still Christians who love our Lord!
Many Blessings,
